LFA National Congress Set For March 28-29, 2003
-To Determine Date For National League Commencement

The long awaited Annual National Congress of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has been set to March 28-29, 2003.

The LFA made the pronouncement last Friday, 14, 2003 and began the issuance of circulars under signature of the Chief Scribe Yanqueh S. Borsay.

The Congress which is a prerequisite for the holding of the national football league had been delayed due to a delay of the audit report that was being worked on by Pernel Kerr Forster (PFK) Auditing Firm on one hand, and the inability of some clubs to register for
the 2003 league season.

In order for a team to be accredited for Congress, it has to be fully registered by the LFA. But most of the teams failed to register because according to them, there is a serious financial constraint in the country.

While the LFA was sympathetic with the clubs that failed to register on one hand, and awaiting the audit report from PKF on other hand, some clubs officials blamed the LFA for not holding Congress in February.

According to some of the Club Presidents, the Congress will only be possible if the documents for same is sent to the clubs at least one month to its convening date in keeping with the local football organic laws.

He added if this is not done, he foresees the Congress being postponed or delayed, something which may also delay the commencement of the national league.

Meanwhile, observers believe the stand by some of the clubs is only intended to undermine the current LFA leadership. Some say it is the same clubs who are yet to register in full that caused the delay in the holding of the Congress.

Football fans are therefore urging the clubs to attend congress so that national league can commence on time during the summer.
