LFA Gets US$65,000 Grant From LTI

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has realized that the football
cannot be developed in a state of war, conflict and misunderstanding.
The LFA has, therefore secured an in-kind grant of sixty-five thousand
United States Dollars (USD65, 000.00) from the Liberia Transitional
Initiative (LTI) in strengthening the already fragile peace process by
the use of football, the world's most popular sports, in Liberia.
In ensuring that the objective of the grant is fully met, the LFA on
Wednesday, September 29, 2004 signed a Memorandum of Understanding
with the National Youth Movement for Transparent Elections (NAYMOTE)
to conduct the awareness exercise, develop a national and district
peace and reconciliation Soccer Pledge Collect Entries and sensitize
small town hall meetings.
Both parties (LFA and NAYMOTE) have agreed to collaborate in the
thirty-one districts of six counties, namely Nimba, Bong, Grand Bassa,
Bomi, Margibi and Grand Cape Mount including schools in Montserrado
County for the soccer pledge competition through the assistance of the
Inter-School Sports Association.
The LFA Secretary-General Yanqueh S. Borsay signed on behalf of the
Liberia Football Association while Mr. Sammy S. Dorbor signed for
NAYMOTE. |
