LBF
Postpones International Referee Clinic
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Liberia Basketball Federation (LBF) has
announced the postponement of the International Referee Clinic for
Zone Three.
In a communication to the Secretary-General
of FIBA Africa, the LBF Secretary-General Fred J.A. Pratt said, "due
to the prevailing situation of late in our country, we will appreciate
the postponement of the International Referee Clinic that was
scheduled for November 15, 2004." Mr. Pratt was making reference to
the October 29 violence in Monrovia.
However, Mr. Pratt revealed that the
International Referee Clinic has been rescheduled for December 15-18,
2004. He said: "This time will be suitable for the participants from
other countries and our own people."
The LBF recently won the bid to host the
International Referee Clinic among countries in Zone Three, Nigeria,
Niger, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Liberia.
FIBA Africa mandated the LBF to bear
the accommodation and local transport expenses by the amount of
US$400.00 (US$100 for FIBA Africa and US$300 for the organizing
federation) to be paid by each participant upon his arrival.
In conformity with the conditions
required by the Technical Committee of FIBA Africa, the candidates to
the International Referee Clinic shall be selected among the best of
the country at the maximum age of 35 years.
At the end of the technical clinic, oral
and practical training, as well as physical test would be organized
under the supervision of the instructions.
"The participation forms duly signed by
their respective federations shall be sent to the FIBA Africa
Secretariat later on 05 November 2004," FIBA Africa said. |
