The decentralization of Liberian football in all parts of the
country has been a major concern for many Liberians despite frantic
efforts by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to see the game
played in the rural areas.
One individual who is said to be deeply concerned is the President
of Invincible Eleven and Chairman of the Female team at the FA,
David Kortie who has vowed to take female soccer to all parts of the
country.
Mr. Kortie, who has been in the drive to see the game reaching out
to the people in rural areas, has already established a female club
in Margibi County called Margibi Queen.
Briefing scores of reporters yesterday at the FA Headquarters, Mr.
Kortie said his dream is see female team established in all the 15
political subdivisions of Liberia.
According to him, to establish female teams in all the 15-counties
will significantly bring up more female talents for the female
national team.
"If we can get one good player from each season from each county, I
believe this will help in building a good female national team in
the future," the female boss said.
Because of his seriousness he has attached to the game, the female
chairman presented US$100 to the officials of Margibi Queen.
As a means of raising some awareness, Mr. Kortie is expected to
leave the capital shortly with three female teams to Margibi County
where they will play series of friendly matches for people of that
county.
The female boss has also disclosed that he will shortly move to
Grand Bassa County to establish a female football team.
He said he is already in discussion with football authorities in
that county about his pending move.
Meanwhile the Vice President of Margibi Queen, Roye Brown and
Technical Assistant Isaac Karmara as well as Fimata Sheriff and
Alice Sween have commended Mr. Kortie for the establishment of the
team.
They said the female boss' move will help significantly in exposing
talents of potential female players in the area.
