Kortie Calls for Scraping of Premier League

                         David Kortie

Saturday, 23 September 2006

An Executive of the Liberia Football Association has called for the scraping of the premier league.

Mr. David Kortie said teams in the country lacked the financial and technical will power to meet the criteria of a premier team.

Mr.Kortie wants the group to return to the three-league system that it had before the introduction of the premiership.

He told Star Radio premiership teams in the country couldn’t even boast of a practice pitch not to mention a mini stadium.

Mr.Kortie claimed players of these teams are not paid based on contractual arrangement.

He also stated that these teams have to insure the players and don’t have the financial resources to even represent Liberia in international club competitions.

Mr.Kortie who is female football representative on the LFA Executive Committee wants the group to urgently study the matter before the start of the next football season.
