"Kofi Bruce" Takes Over Lone Star

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has announced
the appointment of Kofi Bruce, actually known as Joseph Sayon,
as caretaker coach of the Lone Star of Liberia.
The LFA said Mr. Sayon will be at the helm of the national soccer team
while a permanent coach, be it an expatriate or local, is being
sought.
Mr. Sayon, who served as Deputy Lone Star coach under Kadallah
Kromah, is expected to lead the team to its next match in the 2006
World Cup qualifiers in Lome against the Hawks of Togo in March next
year.
The Lone Star has played five matches with four points following
one victory, a draw and three losses in Group One.
The new Lone Star coach is currently coaching premier league side
Alliance FC. He coached Mighty Barrolle and played for the Red
Boys.
Meanwhile, the LFA intends to inform the public when the time is
ripe to receive applications for the Lone Star coaching job.
The LFA plans to start receiving applications based on
instructions from its Executive Committee and the Ministry of Youth
and Sports.
The previous Lone Star Kadallah Kromah stepped down following the
team's 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Lions of Teranga of Senegal in
Monrovia on October 10.
