Kicmett's Magic Wins Malian Cup

                                Melvin Okoro Kicmett scoring

An injury time finish in extra time from the leg of 23- year old Liberian international Melvin Okoro Kicmett, alias "Liberian Messi" ensured his side, Club Olympique de Bamako (COB) win the Malian Cup on July 23 against top side Stade de Malian in what was described as a tough match.

With the full 90 minutes ending 1-1 as a result of a second half equalizer from Kicmett's strike partner Bassoma Sangare, both sides had to go into an extra 30 minute, and with the first half ending blank, the second half generated much excitement with both sides creating some goal scoring chances.

According to the reports from the land locked country, Kicmett did the magic two minutes in injury time after he rounded off two defenders and then slotted home a tap-in to beat the onrushing shot stopper to win the match and made COB win their first major silverware in six years..

The win takes COB to the Confederation Cup of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) early next year. In a related development, authorities of COB insist that their Liberian import who last played for Cameroonian outfit Union Sportive de Douala, will not leave the club for any team in Mali, but will only be released to any club outside Mali.

"Kicmett is a deadly player. He is gifted with good left foot, great speed, clinical finishing and good attitude. We cannot allow him go to any club here in Mali, but outside the country", Moussa Kefite, a member of the team's administrative staff was quoted as saying recently.
