Kicmett Rallies Douala To
Victory
Sublimely gifted left footed striker Melvin Okoro
Kicmett rallied his club Union Sportif de Douala to
winning ways in the last 180 minutes as his side pinned
rivals Coton Sport Garoua 1-0 and hammered Asters de
Douala 3-0 in weeks five and six of the Cameroonian MTN
championship.
The match involving Coton and Union was a mid week clash
and was full of the usual hype as both sides aimed to
edged out each other.
According to reports monitored by liberiansoocer.com,
the midas feet Liberian international started from the
bench at a packed Omnisport Stadium in Douala.
Both sides began on an adventurous note with the former
Tonerre Klara club player reduced to a mere spectator.
But, after 21 minutes, Kicmett was introduced due to
injury of a team mate, and the player quickly made an
impact with a canoe drive shot that rattled the cross
bar a minute after he was introduced.
Then, the moment of the match came in the 31st minute
when the budding star Kicmett buccaneered down the left
flank to provide a cross cum shot which ricocheted on
the boot of a team mate and then landed on the hand of
an opposing defender for a penalty.
Burly defender Mickchlie then rose from the back to
convert the penalty which rotated the score line from
0-0 to 1-0, and eventually became the match winner.
Then on Sunday, it was the Douala derby between Union
Douala and Asters de Douala. Interestingly, the match
involved two Liberians, Melvin Okoro Kicmett of Union
and Abel 'Master P' Brown of Asters.
The latter who played for Zelor FC while on the local
scene, was keen to impress against his former club Union
which he accused mistreating him during his stay at the
club in 2006.
His magic could not work and his wish could not be
granted against the green and white of Union as they
were steam rolled 3-0 with Melvin Okoro 'Kic-Goal'
Kicmett coming from the bench once more to provide two
assists in the 53rd and 67th minute to improve their
standings on the log.
