Kicmett Backs Martins For CAF Glory

Melvin Okoro Kicmett says he believes fellow countryman Ben MCcarthy Martins can go all the way in lifting his club ZESCO United of Zambia win the lucrative African Champions League. In a chat to Liberiansoccer.com, the cultured left footed mazy forward indicated "I first want to congratulate Ben for making history to help his team ZESCO United cruise to the group stage of the champions league, the first Liberian to do so".

The player who made his international debut in the joint 2006 Nations and World Cup qualifiers against Togo, further said "I believe Ben knows what it takes to play at such a high level of continental football".

Kicmett who netted in 13 goals in the just concluded Cameroonian top flight for Union Sportive Du Douala, was in Mali on a private visit and was opportune to see the first leg tie between ZESCO UNited and Djoliba which ended 0-0.

"Ben did call me via phone, and noted that some one from Liberia gave him my number", he noted. He also hinted that the ZESCO ace invited him to their camp and he was with the club at their hotel and was able to go with them on the pitch to watch the match.

According to him, Martins introduced him to the club officials and players and they embraced him. "ZESCO is quite an organized team, their game is based on tactics and they play with much pace and power", Kicmett opined.
