Galaxy of former and present African and
European stars are to grace the retirement of one of Liberia's
greatest footballers, Kelvin Sebwe.
After more than two decades on the park, the
curl legged maestro has decided to call it a day as his retirement
match is set for this Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the famous Samuel
Kayon Doe (SKD) Sports Stadium in Paynesville City.
Kelvin's senior compatriot, the legendary
George Oppong Manneh Weah is expected to lead an array of
reputable footballers to make Mr. Sebwe's last official day on the
pitch such a mirthful and memorable one.
With Weah leading the pack, ex-Africa stars
including three times African footballer of the year Abedi Pele
Ayew from Ghana, Aboubaccar Titi Camara from Guinea,Youssef Fofana
of the Ivory Coast and other ex-international African stars are to
make the event more ecstatic one.
Also, some ex-European stars with African
roots are to be available as well including the Algerian born
ex-international Youri Djorkaeff and Lilian Thuram.
But, the pick in the pack if all goes well
as planned, then the likes of the gangling Didier Tebily Drogba
Yves, Samuel Eto'o Fils, the Toure brothers of Habib Kolo and
Gnerei, Barcelona hit man Samuel Eto’o and other top guns who are
currently making headways in Europe.
Also, a plethora of former Lone Star players
including James Salinsa Debbah, Joe Nagbe, Jonathan 'Boye Charles'
Sogbie, Donasius Sebwe, Jean Friday Roberts, Zizi Roberts,
Christopher Wreh, Oliver Markor and many other stars will be on
hand.
The tension is building, the momentum is
high, the stars are looming and the atmosphere is certainly
expected to be electrifying. It will no doubt be a moment to
remember, and Kelvin who is on record for scoring several vital
goals for the Lone Star since making his full debut against the
Reds of Tunisia in the late 80’s will definitely bid the game
farewell in an honorable fashion by evidence of the program in the
fore.
Moreover, the former Lone Star great who made
in-roads with French club Toulouse, as well as a host of clubs in
Greece will always be admired and respected for his prodigious
decision in organizing his retirement match at home, something
many rising stars and even those Liberians that are active kicking
the round will emulate.
As everyone yearns for the heavyweights to
come to town for such a unique event cum classic, one can only say
may the day be good and "BRAVO KELVIN"!
