Karn United Football Club, a formidable force
in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) league has constituted an
interim leadership of the club that will stair the affairs of the
club during its participation in the LFA 2009 league season.
In a press conference held at the team’s
meeting place at George N. Logan on Warrant Street, the club Board
Chairman, Mr. Samuel Y. Karn told reporters that the interim
leadership was expedient due to the lackadaisical behavior of Rev.
Emmanuel Jones who was previously heading the team as president.
“I greet you in the name of the good of the
game and to acquaint you with developments within Karn United FC.
“Karn United is pleased to participate in the
LFA 2009 league season after meeting with all requirements regarding
the registration of the club.
“Moreover, the Board is pleased to inform its
supporters and the sporting public that it has effected changes
within the leadership by constituting an interim committee to run
the daily activities of the club during the LFA 2009 National
league.
“This interim committee was constituted with
the advice of and consent of the Executive Committee of the club,”
Mr. Karn noted
The veteran Liberian sports administrator was
quick to give reason the Board took such decision.
“The decision of the formation of an interim
leadership is due to the inability of the club president Rev. Jones
to effectively execute his duties as president of the club.
“As you may be aware, since the inception of
this great club in 1999, it has been a formidable force to content
with in Liberian football circle and therefore, its leadership is a
prime concern for the Board of Directors. The leadership can not be
sluggish,” Mr. Karn noted in a rather serious mood.
The Karn United Board Chairman noted that since
the election and subsequent induction of the club’s president Re.
Jones, a year ago, he has failed to put a plan of action for the
successful running of the club.
“He failed on many occasions to call meeting to
tell us his plan of action for the club.
“He unceremoniously abandoned the activities of
the club during this time of the LFA 2009 National league.
“He put players and officials under the false
impression that he had secured several sporting materials for the
players such as boots, bits and jerseys.
“These reasons caused the Board of Directors to
constitute an interim committee headed by our former president Mr.
Jacob F. Bandiyo to lead the club for the LFA 2009 league season,”
Mr. Karn concluded.
Meanwhile, in a chat with the newly interim
president Mr. Bandiyo, told SportsDay “it’s a great challenge to
once again lead a team I once led for almost 10 years.
“It a difficult challenge, but it’s not a
strange one because we once served in such capacity at this very
club.
“We have come on board once again to make Karn
United a formidable force in the LFA league.
“We have confidence in our colleagues and Karn
United is again back on course,” the new Karn United boss noted.
He added, they had confidence in the club’s
previous president Rev. Johns, but unfortunately he did not live up
to expectation..
The new interim leadership of Karn United
includes Mr. Jacob F. Bandiyo as president, Mr. John F. Toe Vice
president for administration, Mr. Osel Y. Williams Vice president
for operations and Mr. Leroy D. Beldeh Secretary General.
The technical staffers include Victor Jardeh
head coach, Edward Saywon deputy coach, Pappie Jones administrative
manager and J. Antonio Hayes assistant administrative manager.
