Kaba,
Nagbo Complete CAF Course
June 5, 2006
The President of the Liberia Football Referees Association (LIFRA),
Idrissa Kaba, along with one of his board members, Alex Nagbo, has
completed the Referees Instructors Training Course organized by the
Confederation of African Football (CAF) held in Ghana.
Reports gathered from Ghana say the two former Liberian
international referees ended the weeklong CAF Course on Friday June
2, outside the Ghanaian Capital of Accra, and are due in the Country
on Wednesday June 7.
The two former FIFA-badge referees who were selected by the
President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Cllr. Izetta
Wesley, to attend the course have expressed happiness over their
participation in the CAF referees instructors course which ended
Friday in Accra.
They were quoted as saying that the course was refreshing and
rewarded, and that would help significantly in sharpening their
skills, and it would increase of the number of qualified and
competent referee instructors in the Confederation of African
Football (CAF) which will be a plus for African football.
According to them what they have learned will not be only useful for
them alone, but also for the Country they represent.
"We are leaving from here with knowledge not to just go and sit on
fence but we will put we have learned into use by helping our
colleagues back home in order to move our football game forward,"
they are said to have told their tutors in Accra.
Our Accra sources said Irissa Kaba who is the President of Liberia
Football Referees Association (LIFRA) has received commendations
from executives of CAF Referees Committee for his victory in the
2006 LIFRA election.
Mr, Kaba, according to our information, has been encouraged to see
his ascendancy to the LIFRA top position as a complete confidence
and challenge for the next four years.
The CAF referees executive members further used the occasion to call
on the losers not to be discourage as they all were a fair-play
winners for the good of the game.
Mr. Irissa Kaba earlier this year won the Presidency of the Liberia
Football Referees Association (LIFRA). He defeated his challenger,
former FIFA-badge assistant referee Sylvester Rannie by 45 to 43
votes in what observers described as "highly competitive race".
At the same time, the LIFRA boss has met with heads of other
associations and federations aimed at building relationships with
their institutions.
Observers say the selection of the two former international referees
by the LFA boss to attend the CAF referees instructors course in
Ghana was not a mistake, judging from their long experience,
aespecially for the LIFRA President Irissa Kaba who is abilingual.
