SWAL Secretary-General
Julu M. Johnson, Jr., the Sports Editor of The News newspaper and
correspondent of Liberiansoccer.com, became Secretary-General of the
Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) following the second
round of voting that took place at the headquarters of the Press Union
of Liberia (PUL) on Saturday, December 17, 2005.
Out of 39 SWAL members that turned out to vote, Mr. Johnson, going
unopposed, got 24 votes.
The was also an election for the Vice President post and Albert K.
Jaja of the Truth FM narrowly defeated P. Numennie of the Sports
Monitor newspaper 20-19.
A week earlier, Hilary Colnoe of DC 101.1 FM was elected President,
while Jean Wleh Bedell of the Analyst newspaper became Assistant
Secretary-General as Alex Tokpa, a freelance photo journalist,
overcame Joseph Charlie to become Treasurer of SWAL.
The new leadership of SWAL will run the association for the next two
years.
