As the electorates of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) go to the polls on Saturday, Mr. Julu M. Johnson, Jr. has vowed to defeat his rival I. Solo Kelgbeh of the Inquirer in the battle for the Secretary General of the Association.

The News Newspaper and LiberianSoccer.com sports reporter says he possesses the qualities to lead a potent secretariat for the next two years.

He told SWAL members to vote for Julu M. Johnson, Jr. if they want to see the wheel of the association turning always.

He warned SWAL members to be cognizant of the fact that some of the candidates are only interested in holding positions within the association rather than moving it forward.

"Don't be moved by flamboyancy because it won't carry SWAL anywhere," Julu said.

"Some of our colleagues boast of knowing people from the whole wide world, but have they told them to help SWAL or should they be elected first?"

The SWAL member, who is also Secretary General of the Juventus Fan Club-Liberia and Secretary General-elect of the Friends of Friends Haitai Association (FOFHA), admonished SWAL members to vote for him because they see him as a person of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.

"Don't vote for me because I am a friend of an athlete or a mouthpiece of a sporting institution as this would continue to pull SWAL down."
