Journey To 2006 Nations/World Cup Continues

      The long journey to the African Cup of Nations and World Cup finals in Egypt and Germany will continue this weekend around the continent.

      In Lome, the Hawks of Togo will face the Red Devils of Congo Brazzaville.
  
       At the Independent Stadium in Lusaka, the Chipolopolo of Zambia will host the Lone Star of Liberia. Several foreign-based players from Europe, Asia and the United States have been called by the Lone Star.

       A tough clash is expected in Bamako as Mali's Eagles, who have played down several big names, engage the Lions of Teranga of Senegal.

       In Kinshasa, the Simbas of the Democratic Republic of Congo will be host of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

      Juventus midfielder Stephane Appiah will lead the Black Star of Ghana in Accra against the island nation of Cape Verde.

       The Stallions of Burkina Faso will play in Ouagadougou with the Cranes of Uganda.
The national team of Libya will be host of 2004 African Cup of Nations finalists Benin's Squirrels in Tripoli.

       A Cameroonian squad comprising Samuel Eto'o Fils, Eric Djemba Djemba, Rigobert Song and Pius Ndiefi, will be in Cairo to play the Pharaohs of Egypt.

     The Azingo Nationale of Gabon will travel to North Africa where they take on the Desert Foxes of Algeria in Algiers.

      The Palanca Negras of Angola are playing at home in Luanda against the Bees of Rwanda.
The Warriors of Zimbabwe are going to find it difficult defeating the Super Eagles of Nigeria who have Austine Jayjay Okocha and crew to contend with in Harare.

     In Nairobi, the Harambe Stars of Kenya will go against Malawi in the former's first match after FIFA lifted the indefinite ban imposed on the East African Nation.

     Pascal Feindonu, Salam Sow, Bobo Balde, Kabba Diawarra and Foday Mansare will lead the Sylli Nationale of Guinea in the match with unknown Botswana in Conakry.

    A repeat of the 2004 Nations Cup finals will come alive in Casablanca where the Atlas Lions of Morocco, the eventual losers, will battle African reigning champions Tunisia.

    The high-profile Didier Drogba of Chelsea and a bunch of Ivorian pros such as Bonaventure Kalou and Aruna Dindane will assemble in Abidjan for the encounter with Sudan.

     The next round of matches is to be seen from October 8 to 10, 2004 with all fifteen countries going into action.
