Despite winning 2-1 on Sunday, NPA Anchors
coach Frank Jericho Nagbe insists that he will not rest until new
players are drafted into the team. Coach Nagbe, speaking a day after
the NPA Anchors slimly baptized first division new comers
Watanga FC with fire, said he likes the current squad, but, according
to him, certain things are still lacking.
Having disclosed the dropping of ten new players
because he said they could not fit into his game plan, the former Lone
Star deputy coach pointed out that he has set his eyes on several new
players for his campaign to qualify for the Premier League next year.
The tactician, who has served as coach of Junior
Professionals, St. Anthony and Mark Professionals, named his targeted
players as his own son Frank Nagbe Jr. from LMA Green Pepper, Isaac
Tondo of the defunct St. Anthony, rising defensive star Solomon Wesseh
of Monrovia Club Breweries, who played several pre-season matches with
Mighty Barrolle and is the foster son of soccer veteran Josiah N.
Johnson or JNJ, and Frank Weah, another young defender from LMA Green
Pepper.
He said the new players will be added to the
already available 16 players the team has registered. Coach Nagbe, who
broke the news about the departure of his "best goalkeeper"
Christopher Ero to Mighty Barrolle, said he has set his eyes on
Olympic FC goalkeeper Chubala Sam to succeeded his former first choice
in goal. The likes of Dweh Allison, Jacob Blamoh and Alasane Kromah
are the other players Jerico says he hopes to sign.
Although the league is already in progress, the coach
assured that the targeted players are patiently awaiting the NPA
Anchors administration to finance their resoective transfer.
"I like the team, but we are looking for consistency and motivation
from the officials," said the coach. "My target is to qualify for the
premier league and win the knockout in order to travel," noted the
coach who mentioned that his dream can not be achieved unless the NPA
management gives him the players he wants.
Jerico said he has already laid the issue of players
recruitment at the feet of the team's sponsors. He, however, did not
rule out the possibility of resigning the post if his current demands
are not met.
