Jasmine Rangers win LISCR Cup

Jasmine Rangers have won the LISCR Trust Peace and Charity football tournament.

They did so after whipping Liberia’s Triple Champs Black Star FC 3-2 on Sunday at the ever popular Antoinette Tubman Stadium

It was an exciting and memorable encounter between the two sides.

Jasmine Rangers began their battle for the charity crown on a difficult footing allowing James Soto Roberts to have a lot of fun up front in the opening proceedings.

The striker should have opened his side account in the 17th minute after a brilliant performance yards from the area, but he later saw his classical effort hitting the side netting.

Jasmine Rangers managed to change the dimension of the game afterward through their talismanic skipper Gus Totimeh when he took advantage of a disconnected Black Star defense and place the ball beyond the reach of a falling Clarence Roberts.

The Liberian triple champions grabbed the equalizer two minutes on from a fantastic Sengbe Kennedy effort.

Gus Totimeh’s immeasurable display for the Rangers earned him a deserved penalty 14 minutes from the interval which Freeman Mulbah converted a minute later.

Both teams soon returned from recess with Black Star looking energetic to even the score line.

James Soto Roberts blasted wide a rising Sorsor Jeke’s pass in the 50th minutes.

Black Star kept on the momentum and got another equalizer 9 minutes after the break through their dazzling skipper Sorsor Jeke from a descending Sengbe Kennedy’s cross.

Jasmine Rangers’ Faran Larklon should have made it 3-2 shortly after Sorsor’s effort but the winger instead placed a slow moving through allowing Clarence Roberts to make an easy save.

Forkpa Waniyou put the game beyond the expectation of the Black Star fans with 36 minutes to go after beautifully finishing a lovely Gus Totimeh’s pass.

Wonder boy Gus Totimeh forced a back trick save from Clarence Roberts’s moments before the end of ShowTime.

Black Star made several attempts to level the score but their efforts were thwarted by the brilliance of the Jasmine Rangers defense.

Jasmine Rangers walked away with a giant size trophy after eliminating three premiership big boys on their way to glory.

Black Star was also awarded a trophy for winning the second place
