JUNIOR LONE STAR COMING TO ATLANTA

By: Omari Jackson

DAY TIME FIREWORKS IN ATLANTA - JULY 4TH

Excitement of the Monrovia Classic County Meet is now hovering over many Liberian Soccer Communities throughout the United States. The 2009 County Meet at the Southeast Athletic Complex, 5845 Hillvale Road, in Lithonia, Georgia will feature some of Liberia's most talented soccer stars in America. Celebrating America's independence, there will be fireworks beginning at 8:00 a. m.

One of the premier Liberian soccer clubs in the United States, the Junior Lone Star of Philadelphia is one opponent every team should be fearful of. The team is winner of the Pennsylvania State Cup Championship. Says Mr. Stephen Togba, a team organizer, "every game is played with much fun". The Junior Lone Star team is comprised of U-19, U-21 and U-23 players. An article published on www.Liberiansoccer.com, recently written by player Thomas George described the players as "Superheroes."

Junior Lone Star is under the dynamic leadership of Coach Bobby Ali, who is also known as CoachAB. Other key members are James Yafondo and Selekie Kamara.

Writer Thomas George wrote, "We all could have cars, but together we can beat and jump over all those problems and keep amazing those around us. You may wonder how we continue to triumph in the face of adversity. It is because we are Junior Lone Star; a new breed of superheroes. "

Equally stunning in display of soccer talents are the Atlanta Lone Star, Lawrenceville F. C., Club International of Charlotte, N.C., Roza Pro of New York, Tennessee F. C., and Trenton F. C. The Atlanta Lone Star has served notice - "There will be no easy passage to the championship trophy". The champion receives a purse of $1,000 in addition to the 6 ½ foot trophy, while the second place winner takes home $500.00.

The Monrovia Classic County Meet is sure to be the most exciting soccer extravaganza in Liberian communities throughout the United States. The tournament is organized by the Liberian Association of Metropolitan Atlanta as a fundraiser for its proposed community center. Donation for the tournament is $10.00. The CountyMeet will be preceded by a meet and greet social ($5.00 entrance fee) on Friday evening at the Valley Bar and Bistro, 3400 Holcomb Bridge Road, Norcross, Georgia. A grand trophy presentation and award ceremony will follow the tournament at the Valley - entrance fee is $10.00. On Sunday a farewell party ($5.00 entrance fee) will climax the Monrovia Classic County Meet.
