JNJ Points Accusing Finger At LFA
…For Weah’s Decision

October 30, 2005-Monrovia

A one-time coach of the Liberia national team, Lone Star, Coach Josiah N. Johnson says he will blame the Liberia Football Association (LFA) for disallowing Soccer Ambassador George Weah to enter the sports sector of the country.

Speaking yesterday at the Adama Hatai Center at the corner of Gurley and Carey streets, Coach JNJ said the LFA made a big mistake by not allowing the soccer ambassador who has great intention for the development of sports in our country to join the FA.

Coach JNJ said, he has observed that people in this country always refuse for the right people that can do the job to handle it, because as he termed it, it is for their own selfish gain.

The former Lone Star coach added that George Weah would have been comfortable with the LFA and was never going to venture into Liberian politics.

“But since he was denied from accomplishing his dream for sports in this country, he decided to seek national power after being petitioned by the people. So we should not blame Weah, we should be asking the LFA why they denied their own son from handling the LFA,” JNJ reiterated.

The former coach said if the Ivorian international, Didier Drogba resigns from international football today and decides to be president for the Ivorian Football Association (IFA), he will not be denied by his people, because they know he has more interest in the game than a selfish desire and so, would want to improve the system.

“I am sure the Ivorian FA will not suppress Didier Drogba from handling their FA, likewise the Cameroon Football Association (CFA) would not behave that technical to deny him from taking over the CFA,” Coach JNJ added.

Coach JNJ then said, he was surprised when he heard that people who helped to suppress the little boy’s ambition of becoming the LFA president, are now pledging their support to him for the Liberian presidency.

“I wonder they are not doing it for selfish gain, or what were they thinking when they were acting so technical when it came to the presidency of the LFA?” JNJ quipped.

The veteran coach said he will attribute these things to the failure of not having the right people at the right place, stressing that there is a need to have the right people at the Liberia Football Association (LFA) so as to recognize developments as they unfold.

“We must understand that the LFA needed George Weah so desperately, but he was suppressed by a group of people who were still going to give their support to him,” ,JNJ noted.
