Former Invincible Eleven (IE) lifewire and
also a player of the national football team, the Lone Star, Josiah B. Seton,
has extolled players of the national team for their recent 1-0 victory over
The Mena Niger.
In telephone conversation with our Sports Desk,
player Seator said he was proud of the players, especially those local ones
in persons of Henry Gobah, Isaac Tondo, Shelton Barlee, Oscar Glaydor,
goalie Boye Pratt and the rest who were on the bench for putting up such a
performance that brought smiles to Liberians.
Commenting further, JB Seton said the local
players have a key role to play on the Lone Star as was exhibited last
Saturday. "If we are to progress in the qualifiers, those local players with
the potential need to be exposed because they are already talented for the
job."
The former IE winger-cum-striker added that
as a former local player himself who was never giving the opportunity to
prove himself on the Lone Star, he was happy that this time around the
present technical staff can select local players for such a crucial match.
"We should begin to encourage these players because they are capable of
representing the country as well."
Touching on those foreign-based players
that honored the match, player Seton commended them highly for their
continuous sacrifice. "I know what means to leave your benefits from your
club and serve your country. I just want to thank them for keeping the
country's flag flying."
Quizzed whether he has intention of coming
for Lone Star's next game in March of next year, JB Seton said once he is
selected by the technical staff, he will come to serve his beloved country.
"I don't want to sing my own song. But I am
confident that I will be invited one of these days to come and play for the
Lone Star. Liberians know what I am capable of doing, and when the time
comes, they will get to know who JB Seton really is when it comes to
performance."
On whether he was disappointed since he has not
being invited despite his current explosive form, player Seton said "God's
time is the best." Adding, "come next year March I know I will be selected
for Lone Star's next match because I am ready to deliver the goods for my
country."
JB is currently plying his football trade
in Malaysia where he plays for SAHAB FC. He has scored 26 goals for the team
since joining them this season. He is nicknamed "George Weah" by the
Malaysian media and fans.
In recent times, Liberians have been calling for
the inclusion of JB Seton on the Lone Star. He clinched LFA highest scorer
award twice and Most Valuable Player title once prior to his departure to
seek greener pastures. |
