Former Invincible Eleven (IE) life-wire, Josiah JB Seton, has returned
to scoring spree following a month-long knee injury.
The player, who plies his professional trade in the Malaysian Premier
League, in a telephone chat yesterday said he scored his team, Sahab
FC’s lone goal against Mass Sarr, Jr’s team, Selangor FC in an away
match. JB Seton said he scored in the 53rd minute of play in a match
which was characterized by fine football artistry and played in
Selangor FC’s home.
JB Seton, who prior to going professional became highest scorer twice
in the Liberian FA league and Most Valuable Player (MVP) once, said he
was happy to regain his scoring form following a month-long knee
injury. “I am grateful to the Almighty God for healing my knee and for
giving me the courage to continue to play. I will do my best as our
team push its quest for the Malaysian League,” the player said.
Quizzed whether he can propel his team to the Malaysian Championship,
JB Seton said with God being their helper and the players determined
to play, winning the championship will not be impossible.
Meanwhile, player Seton is looking forward to Lone Star’s next game
against Ethiopia. The player said it is about time that his talent is
used in the interest of the Lone Star as the team continues its
campaign for the 2004 Nations’ Cup qualifiers.
“I cannot be out here scoring goals for white people and my country do
not benefit from me. Let coach Kromah and his staff make sure that
those who are invited are active and up to task to ensure that the
Lone Star qualifies for its third Nations’ Cup appearance.”
On whether his statement will not be misconstrued that he is begging
to be invited for Lone Star games, player Seton said every Liberian
knows the type of player he is and does not need to beg to be invited.
“All that I am saying is that best players Liberia has now and are
active abroad should be invited for Lone Star games,” he stressed.
Concluding, player Seton said that he is optimistic that he will one
day form part of Lone Star’s attacking machinery. “It is just a matter
of time when the coaches realize my potential. I am ready any time I
am called to duty to serve my country.”
JB Seton left the shores of Liberia via India to Singapore before
settling in the Malaysian league where he is playing his second
season.
Last season he scored 26 goals for Sahab FC in his first season,
something that caught the attention of the Malaysian FA President, who
had to personally inform LFA President Edwin Snowe about Seton’s
exploits on the pitch.
The player said at the end of his contract this season, his next
target will be Europe, where he is eyeing the English, Spanish,
Belgian, Dutch, Cyprian and German leagues.
