George
Weah’s month long injury sustained a few weeks ago signifies that his
fellow Liberian teammate James Debbah will have to stimulate their
United Arab Emirate Club, Al-Jazirah this weekend.
The 33 year-old modish striker who emerged as
the Club’s top scorer at the end of last season, leads the Black and
White side against minnows Al Dhafra on Sunday in seventeenth Round of
the UAE First Division League.
According to reports, James Debbah who is said
to be top form has been assuring fans of the Al-Jazirah based club to
remain unruffled and steadfast.
James Debbah
“Everybody here including George Weah knows my potential and playing
without him means so many things to me. But it is no secret that I
will have give more than I’ve given to guarantee we stay in contention
for the Championship”, Debbah reportedly told newsmen.
Al-Jazirah that narrowly missed the UAE League
Championship and King’s Cup last season languishes in the sixth
position of the twelve-team table with 20 points from sixteen matches
played. They have won five matches, drawn five and losing the rest,
something that their numerous fans aren’t cheerful about.
But judging from pedigree as far as the Al-Jazirah
and Al Dhafra are concerned, the later looks most like to collect the
maximum three points. With only eleven points, two wins and nine loses
in sixteen matches, Al Dhafra lies at the bottom of the table.
Winning 3-1 away to Al Wahda on Tuesday, James
Debbah and his Al-Jazirah teammates will have to maintain their
endearing spotlight to dislodge their next opponents who fell 3-0 to
Al Ittihad on the same day.
In another UAE news, Kelvin Sebwe’s Al Ain that
settled to goalless draw to Al Wasl on Tuesday will host Dubai in a
tough cracker over the weekend.
Al Ain, the defending Champion, occupies the
second position with thirty points while Al Wasl is seventh with a
point adrift to Al-Jazirah.
