Invite Grandpa Doe -Kennah Urges LFA
b
Flashback: Doe Celebrates with Laffor after score the lone goal against Cape Verde

Written by Macpherson C. Marbiah

The Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), Mr. Fumba Kennah is calling on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and the Technical Staff of the National Football Team of Liberia, the Lone Star headed by Italian Coach Roberto Landi to see reason to invite Liberia’s striker Francis Grandpa Doe for the country crucial two matches against Mauritius for the Brazil 2014 Word Cup preliminary matches slated for the 11 and 14 of November 2011.

He said Grand Pa Doe can be a possible replacement for Russian based CSK Moscow forward Sekou Jabateh Oliseh who is currently nursing injuries for the must win Mauritius match, adding that the belief that Liberia does not have anybody to replace Jabateh is not true.

"With all due respect to Jabateh, I believe that he (Jabateh) won’t be able to play the match and calling him is a waste of resource, as he is expected to be on the sideline with no part to play in the full 90 minutes of encounter", he indicated.

Mr. Kennah who also reports for Power Radio and TV, agued that Grandpa Doe is match fit and so the LFA along with the Technical Staff of the Lone Star should see it prudent to use the striker in place of injured playmaker Jabateh for the match.

"The absence of Doe during the Zimbabwe match greatly affected the National team chances of defeating the Warriors as they shamefully lost the match 3-0, and I am calling on LFA and the technical staff not to make the same mistakes again by not inviting the player for the match", he emphasized.

Francis Grandpa Doe was instrumental in netting Liberia’s lone goal against Cape Verde in the African Nations Cup qualifying round in June of this year.

Grandpa Doe also show up for the country two goalless International Friendly matches against Angola and Niger in which he captained the national team in one of the matches played at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Stadium in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

Doe was later dropped from the National Team by head Coach Landi for going to Egypt to sign his new club contract ahead of the match against Zimbabwe in September.

According to reports, the Lone Star 20 -man local based players that are currently undergoing training at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia moved to camp yesterday under the watchful eyes of deputy coach Kelvin Sebwe, as the country "visiting" head coach Landi who only comes to Liberia when Lone Star has a match to play is currently in Italy.

The Technical Staff is currently awaiting the arrival of the six foreign based players invited for the match are expected in the country next week to complete the twenty-six- man square for the Mauritius match, the return leg will be played three days after the first leg in Monrovia.
