With barely two weeks to go before The Gambia take on Liberia in crucial CAN/World Cup preliminaries, unwanted developments are circling over the Scorpions camp.

The side is been plagued by injuries to its key squad members. After German-based Kemo Ceesay is ruled out of the Liberia date with a knee injury, it was the turn of hit man Omar Ceesay to be sidelined for the October fixture with a toothache.

Speaking to Sportfile from his Swiss base, the FC Kickers player explained that he has not kicked a ball for over two weeks.

"I don't think I can regain full match fitness in time for the Liberia game," he said.

Without the former NPE striker, FC Kickers landed all points against FC Hota FC in a 3-1 win.

Another injury worry for caretaker coach Sang Ndong is that of full back, Momar Njie.

The Borussia Fulda and Gambia right wing back was expected to undergo a minor surgery last Monday for a suspected groin injury.

Speaking to Sportfile over the weekend, Momar said he has injuries on his hip.

Njie is expected to be out of action for at least two weeks.

But while Momar battles with injuries, his elder brother, national and club mate, Abdou Njie is in fine form. He is said to be looking forward to joining his the Scorpions in camp next month for the much talked-about tie against Liberia.
