Indonesian Based, SDU ALL-Stars
Lock Horns Today
July 28, 2006
Day two of the Lone Star fund raising tournament comes alive this
afternoon with the star studded Liberian Indonesian based players
locking horns with the Sports to Develop the Underprivileged (SDU)
all stars at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
With hit man Frank Jean Seator of premiership outfit Sruwijaya, the
Indonesian based stars are expected to approach the duel with much
determination as many believe they have something special to prove,
since the region they ply their trade is generally underrated.
Though they are not at full strength due to the absence of most of
their teammates who are still busy on club duties, the virtually
adventurous side will count on an all-round spirited performance to
out do their opponents who are smattering from their 3-2 defeat on
Sunday in the hands of the newly organized Lone Star U-23.
Seator will be hoping that his playmates in defense icon Joseph
Amoah, promising defender, Rashidi Williams, hard -working Ezeah
Benson, goalie cum striker Sunday Seah, explosive Tarkpoh sonkalay
as well as the tormentor will be on top of their game as they aim to
get a bright start in the competition.
As for the SDU All Stars the onus is on them to lift their game in
order to remain in contention for the lucrative honor at stake. In
their last match they fielded an array of former players with
ex-international star James Salinsa Debbah wooing the crowd with his
deft touches and great improvisation in the middle of the park.
Monrovia Breweries ruthless midfielder Boimah Golafalay was their
best performer, and if they are to cause an upset there must be some
new faces on board to augment the team. They looked leaky in defense
until Oilers rugged David Tweh came on to bring stability. The
midfield was a mid uncoordinated and often overrun, and the attack
proved sterile.
If the Emmanuel Geeza Williams side must laugh this time they should
as well be a bit more positive in pressing forward with a useful
4-4-2 formation or a trident strike force formation of 4-3-3. Their
coach Lucretius Togba in a rather upbeat mood noted "We will make a
big come back against the Indonesian based.
We have a surprise for them" Frank Seator for his part indicated "We
know it will be a fantastic battle. Our opponents will want to prove
something, but we will keep our nerves and do the expected in
pulling a win." Meanwhile, as the fund raising tournament rages on,
the Liberia Football Association (LFA) is seriously continuing its
league to the surprise of many.
According to a circular issued by the local football house, only
games slated for the ATS are cancelled to allow matches on the Logan
Town and New Kru Town pitch to take place.
It is an all- female affair in Logan Town with Antares engaging
Kebeh in the opening pairing, while Determined Girls and Shooters
will close the curtain.
The Borough of New Kru Town will host two classic Second Division
encounters.
In the first match at 2:00 PM, Haja and Electrons will wrestle for
three precious points; while at 4:00 PM Roza and New Georgia Pirates
will come face to face.
