Indonesian Based Players Go To West Point

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

The Indonesian-based Liberian footballers will be in the township of West Point on Sunday, August 6, 2006.

The Indonesian-based players will be guests of the County Team Football Club of West Point.

The two sides will clash in a friendly encounter at the West Point sports pitch.

The match was organized to mark the rejuvenation of the County Team, which was founded in the 90s but called off its activities later.

The County Team technical staff headed by head coach Paul Darzeh has named a 20-man strong squad for the pending game.

Skipper Tom Doryen will lead the County Team and will be aided by a number of players including Boye Pratt, Frank Friday, Frank Weah, Sackie Doe, and Roosevelt Blamo.

As expected, the likes of Joseph Amoah, Rashidi Williams, Takpo Sonkarliey, Sunday Seah, Perry Kollie and Eisaiah Benson will be the key men in the lineup of the Indonesian based players.

Ahead of the match, preparations have been taking place in the township in order to properly host the visiting Liberian foreign based players.

The match venue will be given a new look as soccer fans are eagerly awaiting the match.

The match will be the first high profiled one in the community for many years. As a result, the West-Clara Sub-committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has decided to call off one of the league matches that were scheduled to be held on that day.
