In LBF Play-Off
K-Deltas Take Game I Over N. Commissioners
-As Division II Battles Heats Up

May 13, 2003

Liberia Basketball Federation (LBF) female defending champions, K-Deltas have begun their defense of the title by taking game one of the best to three series in the play-offs.

Playing before a capacity crowd at the Sports Commission on Sunday, K-Deltas parading the likes of Amie Weah, Lovetta Bailey, Edna Wolo, K. Kollie, Kulu George among others demonstrated that indeed they are prepared to retain their championship.

On the other hand, the rejuvenated NICOM Commissioners was no pushovers as Angela Wanie Harris, Shirley and others gave K-Deltas  their money’s worth.

The match was one of the best this season in the female division. K-Deltas’ Amie Weah shot three points at will, while Lovetta Bailey did justify that she is also a three-points specialist.

As for NICOM Commissioners, their all-round player Angela Wanie Harris was a delight to watch, as she rebounded, scored and defended well. Had NICOM Commissioners had at least another player with the pedigree of Angela Wanie Harris, K-Deltas would have been beaten.

Meanwhile, Game II is expected to come on next Sunday at the Sports Commission. A win for K-Deltas will end the series, while a win for NICOM Commissioner will push the series to Game III.

In the second division play-off, Barnersville Sniper fell to SOS Trotters, 70-75.

In the first division, Flames beat Timberwolves, 88-87, while T-Chons whipped Royal Legends, 64-60.

The play-offs continue on Wednesday with games scheduled in the second, first and premier divisions.

In the last match of the regular season in the premier league, NPA Pythons beat Mighty Barrolle,
80-78 to top the table. The deadly Pythons will not meet LPRC Oilers, while Uhuru Kings and Barrolle will meet in the play-offs to determine who goes to the grand final.
