Championship Chase Kings' Unbeaten Run Ends

The Liberia Basketball Federation (LBF) title chase continued over the
weekend at the open air Sports Commission on Broad Street, with many
thrilling results.
On Friday in the first match, the battle in the lower division between
Supreme Brothers and Flames ended with the latter winning 83-41points.
In the last match third placers Mighty Barrolle mauled struggling Holy
family 67-47points.
Saturday brought Timber Wolves and Angels Shooter to fore, as both
sides played some promising basketball.
But, in the end it was Angels Shooters that fell prey to Timber Wolves
20-38points.
Then, the day's final match which was no doubt the match of the week
for its hype and tension brought undefeated Uhuru Kings and NPA-Deal
Pythons face to face.
Both side scoop baskets upon baskets to the delight of the vociferous
crowd, but at the end of the 40 minutes frey, it was the Jonathan
Mason side that ousted Uhuru Kings 71-63points for the battle for the
top spot.
Thus ending the Kings unbeaten run in the ongoing LBF Championship
chase.
After the match, Pythons lynchin Mark Smith, said he was happy for the
victory and added that their success was due to a solid all round
performance.
This match was no doubt dubbed the match of the week and lived to its
build up, as it was tension pack with great entertainment in
contemporary Liberian basketball.
On Sunday, Phoenix nearly reached the hundred point mark when they
walloped Supreme Sisters 93-25points in the female category.
The LPRC-Oilers, Invincible Eleven contest eventually followed with
the crest fallen yellow boys continuing their dismal form in the
premiership when they were humiliated by Edwin Snowe's LPRC-Oilers
73-63points in front of a capacity crowd.
