'I Am
Not Interested in LFA Secretariat,' Says Weeks
April 12, 2006
"I am not interested in the Secretariat of the Liberia Football
Association (LFA). I have a bigger job which cannot reduce me to being
an LFA Secretary General. In fact the job of the LFA Secretariat is a
full time thing which I cannot do. I am ok with the job I have and I
have no interest in the LFA Secretariat." These were the exact words
of Beauford Weeks when he spoke to The Analyst Sports Desk on Tuesday.
Mr. Weeks was reacting to a story carried in April 7 and 11 edition of
The Analyst in which it was reported that LFA boss Sombo Izetta Wesley
was aiming to replace current LFA Secretary General Yanqueh Borsay
with Mr. Weeks.
The erudite administrator, who lost to Adolf Lawrence for the position
of Vice President for Operation (VPO) in the March 18 elections of the
LFA, noted that the position of VPO which he was vying for, was even
higher than that of the Secretary General, and stated there was no
interest for the position of chief scribe at the local football house.
The former St. Joseph Warriors tactician, who is also an outgoing
executive committee member at the LFA, hinted that he still has the
passion for the beautiful game, and as such he would still contribute,
but not as the LFA secretary General.
He has a blue print for Liberia football development program which he
says can still serve as workable tool in enhancing the country's
football program that has been impeded due to the prolonged period of
fratricidal civil strife.
He further indicated that the elections at the LFA are over and it's
time for everyone to think positively in putting forth their
constructive ideas to drive the game forward instead of engaging in
what he called those divisive elements that would be inimical to the
improvement of the country's football.
