IE Holds Barrolle!

 Invincible Eleven (IE)

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) premiership produced more fire works yesterday, Sunday, April 12, 2009 at three venues around the country.

At the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia, Liberia’s two bitter rivals in football Invincible Eleven (IE) and Mighty Barrolle settled to a 1-1 draw.

Captain Nuzohn Kulala opened the score for Mighty Barrolle from the penalty spot in the 31st minute after Hallie Lahai was brought down, but IE’s Bashlu Saysay canceled the lead four minutes later from a free kick as the first half ended 1-1.

Back from recess, both sides mounted immense pressure in an attempt to outdo each other for the maximum three points.

Barrolle’s new signing Sam Andrews wasted several chances for the Garmondeh Karnga’s boys and was later sent off by FIFA badge referee Ebenezer Stanley Konah for faking penalty and arguing.

In other matches played, defending champions Black Star continued her poor star to the campaign with a 0-0 draw against Joe Nagbe’s FC AK in Kakata, Margibi County, while USA FC also continued her lackluster performance when the 2007 LFA first division champions went down 2-0 to Vava George’s UMC Roots at the Unification Town pitch in Margibi    County.

Monday is resting day and the league will continue on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 with more exciting matches.
