Liberia’s two most formidable football clubs,
Invincible Eleven (IE) and Mighty Barrolle have advanced to the
quarterfinal of the 2009 edition of the Liberia Football Association
(LFA) knockout.
IE achieved the feat with a 1-0 edging of Watanga
FC. Thanks to striker Lincoln who rattled the net to see the yellow
boys advanced to quarterfinal.
Garmondeh Karnga’s Mighty Barrolle achieved
similar feat with a 4-3 win over LFA premiership sentimental favorite,
LISCR FC in post match penalties after regular time ended 1-1.
LISCR’s lethal striker, Mohammed Varney put the
Mustapha Raji’s side in front with a superb free kick, but Nuzohn
Kulala cancelled the lead from the penalty spot when LISCR’s defensive
midfielder Adolphus Blamo committed a hand ball in the penalty box to
end the first stanza 1-1.
During the penalty kicks, LISCR’s Captain George
Weah missed for his side, while Mighty Barrolle’s Desire Johnson
scored the crucial penalty as the red and white outfit secured the
quarterfinal spot.
Other teams that have also booked quarterfinal
spots include Margibi County based LFA premier club Mighty Blue Angel,
NPA Anchors, FC AK and Monrovia Club Breweries.

Young Controller (BYC) will face LFA triple champions Liberia’s Black
