The Board of the Invincible Eleven Majestic Sport Association (IEMSA)
has demanded a report of the leadership, headed by Isaac Nyenabo.
In a communication addressed this week to the IE leadership by the
head of the Board, William Russell, the report was necessary to be
made, as the fans have decided to take over the team and run it.
At the moment, members of the IE leadership are involved political
activities as the 2005 Elections approach.
IE President Nyenabo is a candidate of Senator for Montserrado County,
while the team’s Secretary General Elizabeth Bannerman will contest
the elections for the post of Representative of Montserrado County,
District Number Two.
The yet to be replaced IE Vice President for Administration, Jerome
Cole Bangalu is the Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change
(CDC), whereas the Vice President for Operations of the IE, Malike
Dukuly is actively involved in the activities of the CDC, led by
former soccer star George Weah.
As for the Vice President for Player Welfare of IE, Emmanuel Zoe
Pennue, he is a candidate for position of Representative of Grand
Gedeh.
It is apparently due to the lack of attention being given IE by
officials due to their respective political ambitions that has moved
the fans to take over the oldest club in Liberian football.
In a press release issued on August 8, 2005 and signed by the Chairman
of the IE Montserrado County Chapter, Mr. J. Napoleon Toquie, II, the
Yellow fans indicated that they were informing the general public that
the club is now under the Montserrado Chapter.
“Anybody who wants to do business with I.E. Majestic Sports
Association should go through the Montserrado Chapter as from today’s
date,” they stated in the release.
The decision by the fans to take over the Sunshine Yellow Boys was
further communicated to the Board of IE, led by Willard Russell.
They said, “We have complained to you and also called the
administration to several meetings which they have failed to attend
and have also failed to live to the expectation of we, the fans. Due
to their attitude, the association is almost dying out. This is why we
want to rescue the Association from dying out.”
The Montserrado Chapter noted in their communication that they do
agree that they would be responsible to pay the players of both the
football basketball teams.
They asked the Board to inform the IE administration of their action
as well as the Liberia Football Association (LFA) not to do any
business on behalf of the team |
