IE-Barrolle Reunion
Match Draws
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
A reconciliation clash between former players of Invincible Eleven
(IE) and Mighty Barrolle failed to produce a winner at the
Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) l ast Saturday despite playing
before a large crowd.
The match ended 4-4 and was staged by the nation’s foremost soccer
legend George Oppong Weah so as to break the division that existed
among the former players during the 2005 General and Presidential
Elections.
Mighty Barrolle went ahead thrice in the first half, including goals
by Nyenego Kollie and James Salinsa Debbah, before John Lahai pulled
one back before the blast of whistle for recess.
Weah, having featured on the side of Mighty Barrolle in the first
half, empowered IE in the second half with two goals while Gobeh
Weahyeaboy added the fourth and equalizing goal even though Eugene
Nagbe did similarly for the Rollers.
With no winner, neither side took the trophy that was up for grab.
Among those that wore the yellow and blue shirt of IE were Raymond
Morton, Isaac Teah, Anthony Nagbe, Jonathan “Boye Charles” Sogbie,
Janjay Jacobs, Hazel Gray and Thomas Weeks. Prince Toe, Wreh Brapoh
and Anthony Papie Sumo featured for IE.
The Mighty Barrolle representatives included Washington Blay,
Theophilus Gould, Friday Roberts, Friday Roberts, Alfred Harmon,
William Gray, Joseph Sion and Frederick Cole. Mitchen Karnga, Robert
Wilson, Koko Wleh and Armah Baxter also appeared for the Rollers. |
