How BYC made history

LFA Knock out Champions Barrack Young Controllers has won the median edition of the African International Youth Football Tournament held in Freetown Sierra Leone.

The well determined Dark Horses did so with a stunting 1-0 victory over Liberty Professionals of Ghana on Saturday evening at a lively looking National Stadium.

BYC started the pairing well and looked very collective_keeping their opponent’s forward at bay.

Liberty Professionals had the first chance of the night when Nana Yao nice square pass on to Gande Ganzene was flanked well by the latter but it was magnificently collected by Mulbah Urey.

Coach Abraham Sese strategy of deploying Malachi Coker in midfield in place of the sick Queejay Contenata really worked as the former Bong County defender made things worse for the Ghanaians and broke several of their threats.

BYC had a great chance of breaking the deadlock on the half hour mark when Momo Sonpon played through Momo Peters with a long range pass deep into Liberty Professionals’ half but Peters struck it powerlessly as it went straight into the arms of Daniel Adjei.

The Dark Horses kept the pressure on their opponents but couldn’t get the crazy moment they wanted until the 70th minute when Grant Targbwe was brought to ground by Karmu Eiza right in the area.

James Powell walked to the spot, took in deep breath before wonderfully sending Daniel Adjei left as the ball went in the opposite direction to confirm BYC success.

Liberty Professionals did have their last opportunity after Nana Yao speculative effort went rolling few inches above the goal line.

The Victory was BYC’s first on the debute international appearance.
