Liberia’s prodigy Ben Teekloh has been
extended a two week-long trial by Israeli top-flight club,
Hapoel Tel Aviv from his Moldovan team, FC Nistru through
its Agent, Mier Riffman who had been tracking his
performance for a time now.
Speaking to Liberiansoccer
en route to Tel Aviv, the versatile player expressed delight
in the challenge, and has avowed to exhibit his talents and
the level of experience he has acquired featuring for FC
Nistru, Moldova.
“The news came as a big revelation to me,
but as a player it has always been my duty to keep up shape
and form because you never know when you’ll be called upon”.
Ben, who formerly featured for Cameroonian
Club Tonnerre KC and Ashanti Gold SC of Ghana, was
optimistic about justifying well and making the switch even
if playing in Israel is far better than Moldova.
“It’s my first time going to play in
Israel and though I might not be familiar with their class
of football, I’m aware of modern football and very anxious
to set foot on the pitch”, he said confidently.
Meanwhile, Ben has commended the Liberian
FA for the selection of Frank Jericho Nagbe as the new Head
Coach of the Lone Star. He noted that the appointment of
Coach Nagbe would heighten the morale of young players
considering his records.
“During the 2002 World Cup and African Cup
qualifiers, I’d worked with him as a young player, and must
acknowledge how stimulating and rewarding it was”.
“Jericho has got a winning mentality, and
encourages if not forcing his players to think the same
way”, and working with again to ensure our qualification to
Ghana 2008 and probably the World Cup in South Africa 2010
would be welcomed”, Ben averred.
Frank Nagbe who was named Lone Star Coach
recently is no stranger to the job having served in numerous
deputy positions before accepting the enviable assignment.
His most important test would be qualifying Liberia for its
third African Cup of Nation – GHANA 20008.
Already, 30 local players have been
selected to begin preparation, and whether foreign and other
experienced players would be called to sustain their
strength is what pundits are anticipating.
