Gus Doe Williams
Eyes LFA Presidency

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
( 4/07/2004 Monrovia)-Mr. Gus Doe-Williams is
reported to be gearing up to take over the Liberia Football
Association (LFA). A source has quoted Mr. Williams as saying that the
former Secretary-General of the LFA has decided to contest next year's
elections.
Our source indicated that Mr. Williams has particularly
set his eyes on the presidency.
Notwithstanding, it has been gathered that Mr. Williams would
only vie for the LFA top job unless George Weah decides not to do so
or is declared unqualified.
It was not made known although as to which other post
Mr. Williams would prefer if Weah is declared qualified.
LFA stalwarts have continued to make it known that since
George Weah did not serve as president of the defunct Junior
Professionals, it would be difficult for the former World, European
and African Player of the Year to contest for a seat at the helm of
the LFA despite all of his achievements in world football.
Mr. Gus Shakespeare Doe-Williams is no stranger to the
LFA. He became the second chief scribe of the LFA during the past
regime of Edwin Snowe. He succeeded Sackie Kennedy who now resides in
the United States of America.
Even though Mr. Williams set a splendid administrative
record that his successor Yanqueh Borsay has yet to come close to, he
was later to fall off with Mr. Snowe.
He later made use of the experience at the LFA by
going abroad to study football administration.
Mr. Williams now seems riper than before that he wants to come back to
the LFA to restore the good old days.
