Eric Glasgow-
Goalkeeper #1: 5
out of 10-
Eric playing his first match for the senior Lone Star was untested for
most part of the match because of his defense. His classic error in
the 11 minutes resulted into the first goal. A set-piece volley was
feebly punched out of his six-yard area, and Souleymane Youla heads
for a goal. In the second half, he spilled one of the only two shots
that came his way. He could have saved Souleymane Youla shot in the 50th
minute, but hurried off his lines to concede his second goal.
Opea
Myers-Defender #6: 8 out of
10-
Opea appeared a bit unsteady in the earlier part of the match, but
recovered later. He had Mansare Foday to mark alone and a challenge on
the Montpellier forward deep in Lone Star half resulted into the set
piece that brought the first goal.
He created two chances in the 2nd half that could get two
goals, but the efforts were wasted. Stamina caught up with him later
in the half.
Isaiah Benson-Defender #8:
8 out
of 10-
Playing his second match for Liberia, Benson really had his experience
to show. Though he was sloppy at certain intervals, he had
breath-taking moments with Mansare Foday of Guinea. Restrained from
overlapping that he enjoys mostly, Benson existence on the left side
of defense saved Liberia from the Montpellier winger strategy.
Murphy Nagbe-Defender #15: 9 out
of 10-
Facing the Guineans for the second time in the same competition, the
physically fit defender was quite impressive. Breaking the first
threat with a sweeping clearance, he controlled his men by the book
saving goalkeeper Glasgow from being tested for most part of the
match.
Tubman Johnson-Defender #17:
9 out
of 10-
A debutant defender had his game well anticipated. Controlling when
necessary he also swept when the time came. Tried some inexperience
but composed quickly in the first half. Tubman is tall and like Murphy
they could challenge the taller Guineans in the aerial tussles.
Prince Daye-Utility unusual # 11:
10 out
of 10-
Prince had plenty experience to share and added a goal to polish his
maturity. He controlled the game from start to finish and played in
all position. Arriving a few hours before the game, he knew the
Guineans in persons and as a team and his rock-solid press on them
told his brilliance. He was booked for a rough tackle in the 2nd
half.
Frank Seator- Forward #7:
8 out
of 10-
Seator had his first effort shot wide from close range in the 5th
minute. The second was cleared off the lines for a corner. He too had
surplus to show his inexperience colleagues although was sluggish at
times. Seator wanted to die a little for Liberia, but with less
support something he didn’t complained about, he was rutted and put up
good assists at times. His shot for a clear penalty was waved and was
booked for indecent and substituted in the 80th minute.
Alvin Kieh-Forward # 13:
8 out
of 10-
Came on as a 2nd half substitute in the 60th
minute. A long flight forced him to admit low energy and started from
the bench. He had something to show, but not enough time prevented
him. Created some tricky moments for the Guinean defense that had
Soumah Morlaye of SC Bastia to its rescue.
James Lomell-Midfielder #2:
7 out
of 10-
The Maritzburg of South Africa midfielder has blended his vacation
with national call. Was not quite exciting, but created a golden goal
that was wasted after Liberia has drawn level in the first half.
Lomell had a hand in the lone goal and struck wide from outside the
area in the 1st half. Complained of restricted role, but
what more could a little boy do in a short notice against a full-grown
Guinean team?
Bokolo Chea-Midfielder #12:
6 out
of 10-
Bokolo complained of injury early in the 1st half and was
carried off the pitch more than once. His passes were not connecting
and was too slow in the midfield. He hung on for rest of the half
unseen. He limped off the pitch again in the 50th minute as
play continues for the second goal. He should have been brought down
long before the goal was conceded.
Sylvester Treah-Midfielder #3:
8 out
of 10-
The tall midfielder showed impressive skills and was quite
outstanding. He won couple of 50-50 balls but connecting them was not
easy. Moving back and forth in midfield and defense to keep the
Guineans at bay helped Liberia greatly.
Amos Kicmett-Forward #18:
7out
of 10- Kicmett could have increased Liberia tally in the 432d minute but
inexperience showed clearly. He received a splitting volley that
separated him from two defenders and only the goalkeeper to beat, but
bowed his head and pushed the faster than he could reach. Playing as
supporting striker with Seator, he had to retreat deep into midfield
to assist and was booked for a rough tackle. Another debutant, Kicmett
didn’t go unseen anyway
Himie Freeman-Forward #14:
7 out
of 10-
A right cross landed in his path just in from of an empty net in the 2nd
half, but he hurriedly blasted wide. He complained of lack of support,
but lack of anticipation and inexperience would be the correct
reasons. A 57th minute substitute, he played deep in midfield and
showed a bit of flash skills. Formed a brief recipe with Prince in
midfield, but the Guineans were moving faster that his eyes could see.
Buston Browne-Forward #9:
6 out
of 10-
It is difficult to rate the big striker who had only 10 minutes to
show his skills especially as an inexperience player. He fired wide on
the edge of the box and that was all Liberiansoccer.com could gather,
but contributed what he could in the 10 minutes anyway.
