Green Pasture FC has officially been crowned as champions of the LFA
2009 Second division championship.
The New Kru Town based outfit was decorated at a formal ceremony
Monday at the ATS following a 4-1 demolition of New Georgia Pirates in
the final match of their campaign.
Green Pasture FC lost three games during the entire season.
Their long time rivals Vinton Professional also finished second in the
league.
The only premiership match of the day at the ATS saw Wantaga FC
forfeiting to relegation threatened Devreaux FC.
Meanwhile, celebrations took place in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa
County to mark the official honoring of Mighty Barrolle as Champions
of the LFA 2009 Premier league.
The Rollers won their third ever premiership crown last week following
a really combative season.
They won Jubilee FC 3-1 at the Doris Williams Stadium to finish the
season with 73 points, with 4 and 6 points above both LPRC Oilers and
Barrack Young Controllers.
Wiaka Wesseh bagged two of those goals for Barrolle to win the golden
booth, raping up his tally to 19 following a stiff competition form
George Kerkula and the departed Teku Nahn who scored 17 and 16 goals
respectively this season.
Oilers beat Monrovia Club Breweries 1-0 on Sunday at the D. Tweh
Sports Pitch to finish in the second spot.
Barrack Young Controllers for their part continued their recent poor
run with a 2-1 defeat to Mighty Blue Angels at the Nancy B. Doe
Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County.
In Ganta, Nimba County International Black Stars walloped Maning
Jallah 3-0 in a second division league match.
