Flashback:Francis Grand Pa Doe celebrates goal
with Laffor
Moody striker Francis Grand Pa Doe's globe trotting story
continues as he has this time settled in the Malaysian top
flight known as the Super League with 2011 runner up
Persatan Bola Negeri Terengganu (PBSNT).
According to reports from the Asian nation, the former Al-Ahly
forward who joined the club on the Bosman or free agent
rule, signed a staggering US$ 100,000 on a ten month period
as he begins new life with the club nicknamed Sang Perya.
Founded in 1972, the club, Terangganu has a capacity of
50,000 at their stadium known as the Sultan Mizan Zainal
Abidin. The former Tonerre Klara club front man joins the
Brazilain midfield import Erison Da Silva Santos and the
Croatian defender Antonio Rukuvina as the team's three
foreign players this season. Terangannu has some Liberian
connection as former Invincible Eleven (IE) and Liberian
international sleek forward Sam Chebli is regarded as one of
the club's greatest players in its history after he was
transferred from the gold and black outfit of Perak FC.
Francis Doe was expected to impress at Africa's Real Madrid,
Al-Ahly (Due to the fact that they were voted Africa's club
of the century just as Madrid was for Europe). Coming to the
club from the Major League as a replacement for the Angolan
forward Flavio Amando, the Lone Star, Doe started brightly
as he played with some of the continent's great in Mohamed
Aboutrika and Mohamed Barakat, but a plethora of fines due
to despicable attitude and in particular the arrival of
Mauritanian import Dominic Da Silva led the club to part
company with the Christmas day born hit-man.
With the move now to Malaysia, it remains to be seen whether
Grand Pa will this time bring to the fore the sustainability
mechanism in sustaining such relatively lucrative deal
(though many argue that a player of Grand Pa's caliber
should not be signing for US$ 100,000.00 on a ten month
basis as it is too small) as his loss of contracts in
Greece, the United States and of late Egypt are something
the poisonous striker must look at critically and in afct
try to expunge as he chapter a new course in his career.
But, while he may end his period of inactivity, his move to
Asia which many say is not really for younger players but
those in the twilight of their career or those approaching
retirement is another talking point. Does his move to
Malaysia intended to get him in the right shape to use such
terrain as a spring board to move to the top echelon of
European or African football mainly in the North or South
Africa or even the Americas or it is the beginning of the
end of Francis Grand Pa Forkay Doe? only time will tell they
say..
