Government To Lose Sports Commission

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

The Sports Commission is about to return to its private and
legitimate owners following the expiration of a lease agreement with the Liberian government.

Fred JA Pratt, who is the Secretary-General of the LBF, lamented
that his federation is on the verge of constructing its own gymnasium.
Pratt quotes Smith as stating that the lease agreement between the
owners and government has since seized to exist in 2003.

According to Mr. Pratt, the government through the Ministry of
Youth and Sports has been trying to find an amicable solution but to no
avail yet.

The LBF Secretary-General appealed to Mr. Smith to exercise
patience while the LBF tries to find facility that can be called its own.
“The last time, Mr. Smith said he was frustrated about being
drilled by the Finance Ministry.

“Therefore, he has chosen to write the President of Liberia, Her
Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, on the matter,” indicated Pratt,
quoting Smith as saying.
