The government of Liberia has accepted the drawings of the soon to be renovated Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

The multi-million dollar sports complex was destroyed during the heat of the Liberian civil conflict.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Counselor Wheatonia Y. Dixon-Barnes on Monday, May 2,received the working drawings for the SKD Sports Complex from the Ministry of Public Works.

The six cartons of working drawings, presented to the Sports Minister by Mr. Thanyi Yi, Economic and Economic Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, were submitted on April 12 for onward transmission to the Public Works Ministry for technical review and advice.

As contained in a communication from the Acting Public Works Minister Jackie A. Bruce to Sports Minister Barnes, the drawings have been reviewed and subsequently approved. The Public Works Ministry says that the drawings have met the technical specifications of the Ministry.

Thereafter, Sports Minister Barnes, on behalf of the Liberian government, told the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia to inform the Chinese Engineering Firm known as the Chnia Wuah Architectural design Institute of the approval of the working drawings for the implementation of the project and to commence the renovation work at the SKD Sports Complex.
