Good Start, Mustapha!
June 19, 2006
What appears to be a good beginning for the Liberia Football
Association (LFA) was observed over weekend when the Chairman on the
Media Committee at the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Mustapha
Raji began his weeklong visit to various media institutions in the
country.
The FA Media Committee boss visits, which kicked-off Saturday, June
17, began with The Analyst newspaper, where he met with the Sports
Editor Peter N. Toby.
Mr. Raji, who was warmly received by The Analyst Sports Desk, said
his visit was all geared towards building good relationship between
the local football house and media institutions in moving the local
game forward.
According to him, the press is significant in enhancing the
development of the game at all levels as such they cannot be left
out "if we are to be on par with our African counterparts on the
continent." The LFA Media Boss also acknowledged the work of The
Analyst Sports Department over years but he noted that foreign
sports were featuring more prominently than local games on The
Analyst Sports pages.
"We know that your papers are making business but if the foreign
sports developments begin to take over our local game then our game
will find it difficult to move forward," he said.
"We have to sell our local games out to the public and the press is
our only source we can use in achieving this major objective," he
indicated.
For his part The Analyst Sports Editor Peter N. Toby, first
commended the FA Media Committee boss for his visit and he said
would set a new chapter between The Analyst Sports Department and
the LFA in enhancing the game.
Mr. Toby also said the level of coverage for our local game has
always being the major concern of sports reporters.
According to him, development of the game in Liberia is set in the
hands of Sports Journalists and they do not intend to prefer foreign
development over our local development.
He noted that The Analyst Sports Department will continue to sell
the Liberian games at all levels in order be on par with our African
counterparts.
"Mr. Mustapha Raji this is our country and we cannot sit back and
leave sports to die, especially football.
"Selling the game out on the local and international scenes will
continue to be our property," he concluded.
The LFA Media boss is expected to continue his visit next Saturday
to other Medias institutions in the country.
