The female soccer champions Earth Angels are now an asset of the
recently established Global Bank Liberian Limited.
The Global Bank, according to Earth Angels president Wallace Weiah,
will sponsor the reigning champions from now on and will take care of
tuition for players, provide transportation, jerseys and even per
diems.
The entire Earth Angels squad, including players and officials, on
Wednesday toured the Ashmun and Mechlin Streets headquarters of the
Global Bank Liberian Limited.
During the Wednesday's visit, the Head of the Finance Planning and
Treasury Operations, Harry T. Conway of the Global Bank was available
to receive the Earth Angels delegation in the banking hall.
Thereafter, Mr. Conway took the team on a guided tour of the bank's
facilities, such as the Foreign Operations, Information Technology and
Accounts Departments.
The team also visited the office of the Executive Vice President,
Augustine Jarrett, but he was out even though by way of phone call he
regretted not being present due to traffic jam. Mr. Jarret promised to
be at the team's next match.
Earth Angels had the chance of meeting the Global Bank president, Dr.
Edmundo Trombetta face to face in the bank's conference room.
To Earth Angels, Dr. Trombetta expressed the hope that the team would
continue to promote his bank.He revealed being in touch with some
managers and clubs in his native Italy to see the possibility of
scouting some of the potential talents the club possesses.
The Global Bank president admonished Earth Angels to "keep playing
well and keep winning and everything will come after."
Dr. Trombetta vowed to make himself available at the Earth Angels'
subsequent matches. "I will come see you playing myself so that we can
prepare something to propose the best
players in Italy."
On behalf of the playing body, skipper Dehkontee Sayon lauded Dr.
Trombetta and Global Bank for the new beginning.
She promised that the Earth Angels would live up to the challenge by
bringing good results.
The president of Earth Angels Wallace Weiah and his secretary-general
Adolphus Kenta also appreciated the decision by Global Bank to sponsor
the team.
The new deal has brought a relief to Earth Angels, which began the new
season on a bad note following series of poor results.
