Ghanefo Kromah Dazes Monrovia FC

Liberia’s premiership runner-up Barrack Young Controllers
Liberia’s premiership runner-up Barrack Young Controllers
new signing Ghanefo Kromah was on target for the club during
their test fixture with Monrovia FC at the PHP stadium on
Friday.
Kromah was a target for Monrovia back in June, but the Camp
Johnson Road Boys through their President Robert Sirleaf,
(son of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) signed the former
LISCR goal netter ahead of Monrovia FC Norwegian boss
Wilhelm Myrer.
The match was entertaining for both clubs, but Kromah’s
excellent ball control eliminated the center back of
Monrovia FC, allowing him to place the ball in the left
corner of his opponents’ net.
The former LISCR FC striker delivered a right wing cross
after beating Monrovia FC’s stubborn left back with a right
foot inside-outside skill before giving the cross for former
Gedi and Sons forward Teku Nah who headed in to increase the
tally to 2-0.
Monrovia FC resumed the second half of the game with more
attacking tactics that profited the team with three goals,
forcing Barrack Young Controllers to a 3-3 draw after full
time.
There were lots of chances, which afforded players on tryout
with Monrovia FC to demonstrate their talents during the
game. Monrovia FC new signings defensive midfielder Varney
Fobah, Andrew Nagbe and attacking midfield Hilton performed
brilliantly for the club throughout the test encounter last
Friday.
Former Nimba FC coach Aki Moore currently heads the club’s
coaching department on a one-month tryout program. He is
expected to play more matches to adopt and settle the team’s
formation as they prepare for the coming national league.
Monrovia FC also settled to a goalless game with Jubilee FC
on Thursday under the watch of Aki Moore.
Monrovia FC will over the next few days land a Nigerian
defender who will partner with the club’s current rough and
aggressive center defender Archie Zeah. Reports emerging
from Monrovia indicate the club is about to release names of
about five new players before the season kicks off.
Stanley Whitfield Ends Goal Drought
Former Jubilee FC forward Stanley Whitfield, who was scouted
by an Israelis during the LISCR FC Charity Cup in Monrovia
few months ago ended the goal drought challenge faced by man
Liberian forwards in Israel since the league kicked off.
Whitfield currently plays for Hapoel Herzliya. He got his
first international goal of his career in the first half
mark (45mins) during a home clash that witnessed the
opposing side Hapoel Nazareth Illit featured three
Liberians, including Liberia's premiership Golden Boot
holder Vitalis Sie, former LISCR FC striker Ben Martin and
defender Alvin Dixon.
The 3-1 victory over Hapoel Nazareth Illit was the first win
for Hapoel Herzliya in the national league this season; the
club has two Liberians Stanley Whitfield and defender Gizzie
Dorbor. Stanley started his top-level football with Harbel
base premiership outfit Might Blue Angel before Jubilee FC
landed him for the 2010/2011 season.
The Liberia Football Association 2010/2011 Champion LISCR FC
organized the tournament, which is an annual event.
Liberia’s Golden Boot holder Vatalis Sie and former LPRC
Oilers defender Alvin Dixon were scouted by LISCR FC-Israeli
collaboration involving club coaches, agents and scouts.
Striker Ben Martin and Vatalis Sie are awaiting this weekend
fixture to search for his opener goal this season. It is not
a good output for the Liberian Golden Boot holder to be
unable to land a goal in more than ten matches comprised of
FA Cup fixture.
Despite being unable to score, Sports Media and others
Israeli scout told the New Dawn over the weekend that the
players are great and have lots of qualities, but the much
needed goals will come later.
