Liberian international midfielder George Gebro has been given a European status in Cyprus.

The football federation in that country gave the Liberian the status on Tuesday. This means George Gebro can play on as a European player.

However, the player told Star Radio via telephone from his based that his European status would continue as long as he stays in Cyprus.

Gebro expressed happiness over the news and said he had already signed the document and was in possession of his copy.

The Liberian player had just moved to AEL Lamissol of the first division league.

He said the news was a welcome development and would help boost his career in Europe.

George Gebro before moving to Cyprus played in Greece for more than four seasons. He is one of the few Liberian footballers that are stay playing active football in Europe.
