Geofrey
Miller Ready For Comeback
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Liberian international midfielder Geofrey Miller will soon hit
the pitch following a long absence contributed by injuries.
The drag-logged player intends to begin his comeback to the game he
loves with the Chicago Storm, an outfit playing in the Major Indoor
Soccer League (MISL) in the United States.
Although Miller hopes to complete a contract with the Chicago Storm
in August this year, the midfielder has not ruled out the option of
playing in Europe and Asia, where most of his compatriots are now
plying their trade.
The 27-year old Liberian prodigy has played in the US A-League for
the Raleigh Flyers in 2003 but the team folded thereafter.
Before then, he had a stint in Germany at Offenback Kickers
following his graduation from the North Carolina State University for
which he played in the Atlantic Course Conference.
Having had a fracture in his foot, Miller believed that it was not
over for his football sojourn when he returned to his native Liberia
last year. His several training sessions with the Liberian national
team led to his selection for four Lone Star matches against Togo,
Zambia, Mali and Senegal in the joint 2006 African Nations and World
Cup qualifiers in Group One.
Being with his Liberian colleagues on national team duties have been
sufficient reasons why Miller is keen on returning to soccer.
