Gedi’s
Mohammed broke LISCR’s heart at 90th minute

Liberia Football Association (LFA) youthful
premier club, Gedi and Sons frustrated LFA premiership sentimental
favorite, LISCR FC with a crucial 1-1 draw in continuation of the
current LFA premiership.
The kids achieved the feat on Sunday, May 17,
2009 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.
LISCR’s Vitalis Siah drew first blood in the
first half after Gedi’s goaltender Mulbah Uray blundered, but the
kids were not deterred and mounted more pressure for the equalizer.
Gedi’s danger man, Andrew Dorley, alias “Kaka”
came closed to rotating the score line, but thanks to a well
organized first half LISCR defense that included Liberia’s Lone Star
Captain Murphy Komonple Nagbe, George Baysah, Zayzay Kollie as well
as the young defense hero Emmanuel Tarpeh as the first half ended in
the Mustapha Raji boys’ favor.
Back from recess, the match was considered one
way traffic as Patrick Garwo’s Gedi and Sons continued the pressure
with Teku Nahn and Dorley at the helm of the attack.
Striker Nah, combined with local Kaka almost
got the equalizer, but thanks again to the experienced LISCR defense
as the match went to the dying moment.
Gedi defense ace in the form of Mohammed than
scored the crucial goal that frustrated LISCR just a minute to the
interval after the so-called LISCR experienced defense blundered
completely to end the match 1-1..
After the match, the hero of the day, Mohammed,
who scored the crucial goal told liberiansoccer.com “our coach told
us to keep the faith because anything could happen in the match and
that was what we did.
“We have not performed superbly for long now
and we felt losing to LISCR would have killed our dream of going to
the top a bit..
“We want to caution our many fans to keep
courage as the league is still long,” the calm defender noted.
The lad than dedicated the goal to a special
personality “this crucial goal is dedicated to our president Mr.
Patrick Garwo who resides in the United States of America (USA).
“He has been there for us in terms of support
in all aspects. Our salaries are on time as well as our equipments.
“He has always told us to keep together and
fight for silver wear in the campaign,” the young defender noted.
Gedi & Sons Football Club is a club based in
Monrovia, Liberia. The club home stadium is the Antonette Tubman
Stadium (ATS).
Its President is veteran Liberian sports
administrator and a former Executive Committee (EC) member of the
Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mr. Patrick Garwo who resides in
the USA.
