Defender
Chris Gbandi will be out up
to six weeks with an injured left ankle.
FCD also got some disconcerting injury
news on Sunday when the results came back on
an MRI on left back Chris Gbandi, last
year's FCD defender of the year. He will
miss four to six weeks with a grade two
sprain of his left ankle, an injury that was
suffered during a game against FCD's
Brazilian partner Clube Atletico Paranaense
on Wednesday in Curitiba, Brazil.
Gbandi, tabbed as the starter at left
back, missed Saturday's training session and
was on crutches.
"It's unfortunate," Morrow said. "We were
devastated for Chris (Gbandi) on Wednesday
night. We thought it would be something
worse. We feared that he had broken his
ankle. We hope it's a lot better. He's going
to get an MRI [Saturday]. We know it's not
broken, so hopefully the news isn't as bad
as we first feared. It's disappointing to
lose another defender after losing Adrian (Serioux),
especially losing more experience. But it's
not for too long. We have enough young
talent on this team to cover for it."
Gbandi was listed as a starter for
Liberia next match against Cameroon. A
possible replacement could be another MLS
left back Wills Farko of Real Salt Lake. He
has experience playing against Eto when Real
faced Barcelona last season.
