Former coach to quit  football .

Coach Gabriel Johns
.
(lbsonline/Liberia)-One of Liberia’s best local coaches Gabriel Johns has threatened to quite football in the country.

Coach Gabriel Johns a deputy to the late Coach Bertalan Bicskei said the attitudes of senior football executives and jealousy of local coaches was driving him to the decision.

Coach Johns was relieved of his deputy coaching position with the Lone Star of Liberia last March. He said too many jealousies among local coaches were undermining efforts of coaches eager of developing players in the country.

“I have no intension of coaching in Liberia again because I am discouraged about the way in which the local coaches are been treated. For me personally, now I don’t think I have any intension to coach in this country any longer. I’m going to be by the fence”.

Coach Johns told lbsonline that he was feeling bad and discouraged because the work they were not adequately paid for what they are cable of doing.

Coach Johns refuted speculations that the Lone Star Hungarian coach was poisoned in Liberia, though he admitted that the atmosphere among the coaches were not conducive at some points in time based on traditional belief.

Coach Johns said “It came a time I could not even drink water on the practice ground or even eat food on the training ground because of the atmosphere”.

He said possibility of Bicskei being poisoned in Liberia was untrue as the Hungarian was never ever offered food by local coaches that were around him.

“He took us to his hotel and gave us food to eat and not us giving him food. I don’t want to believe he was poisoned”, said Coach Johns.

Coach Johns was also dismissed as head coach of a local LFA Premier League side LPRC-Oilers, because his engagement with the Lone Star limited his services with the premier league club at the time.

Coach Johns has won many individual awards while coaching several teams from the Third Division league to the Premier League.

He was named LFA ‘Best Coach’ in the premier league twice with LPRC-Oilers and took them to the LFA Knockout finals, two seasons ago where they finished as runner-up in the premiership the same season.-By Kolubah Zayzay
