The momentum for Lone Star’s match against the Amavubi Stars of
Rwanda is gradually beginning to grow as foreign-based players
invited for the game have begun to arrive in the country.
On late
Tuesday evening, player Anthony Lanford who plays for Jomo Cosmos in
South Africa arrived in the country while Greece-based Oliver Makor
and Kelvin Sebwe of Ionikos and FC Kavala respectively touched down
at the Roberts International Airport on yesterday evening. Also
arriving yesterday was Sweden-based Dioh Williams who plays for BK
Haken.
Report says the rest for the professional players invited are
expected to arrive today and join the local boys in camp.
On Monday Coach Frank Jericho Nagbe moved to camp with his local
players at the Adolphus Lodge in Gardnersville and has been awaiting
the arrival of the foreign-based players; although there has been
confusion within the LFA on the camping site of the team.
Coach Nagbe and the technical staff had earlier submitted to the
Ministry of Youth and Sports the names of twenty players to be taken
to camp; comprising twelve local-based players and eight
professionals.
Meanwhile, reports gathered say coach Nagbe has also invited to
camp the former captain of the Under 15 national team, Natus Ponnie
to justify his inclusion on the team. Player Ponnie is based in
Sweden and arrived in the country on Tuesday.
This paper has received credible reports that the national team
of Rwanda, the Amvubi Stars is expected to arrive in the country on
tomorrow, Friday.
The team left Rwanda last week and had been camping in Dakar,
Senegal since Sunday where foreign-based players are expected to
join them.
